Wedding signage plays an important role in guiding guests through your day while also adding thoughtful design moments throughout your venue. Well planned signage helps your wedding feel organized, welcoming, and cohesive. With a little intention, it can be both functional and beautiful!
Common Wedding Signage Needs
Not every wedding needs every sign, but these are the most common pieces couples consider:
Welcome Sign
Placed at the entrance of the ceremony or venue, this sign greets guests and sets the tone for the day. It often includes your names and wedding date.
Directional Signs
These help guests find important locations such as the ceremony, cocktail hour, reception, restrooms, or parking.
Seating Chart
A seating chart displays guest table assignments in one place, while escort cards allow guests to pick up their name and table number individually.
Bar Signage
This may include a drink menu, specialty cocktails, or a note about an open or cash bar.
Guest Book Sign
A small sign explaining how to participate in your guest book or alternative keepsake.
Cards and Gifts Sign
This directs guests where to place cards and gifts, especially in larger or multi room venues.
Table Number
These help guests find their seats and tie into your overall design.
Menu Signs
Menus can be placed on tables or displayed as signage, especially for buffets or stations.
Dessert or Cake Signage
Used to label desserts or explain the cake cutting plan.
Tips for Designing Your Signage
Keep fonts readable from a distance
Use your wedding color palette and fonts for a cohesive look
Avoid overcrowding text and focus on clarity
Think about scale so signs fit their space appropriately
Consider your venue style when selecting materials
Match your wedding signage to your wedding stationary. Use the same colors and fonts.
Tips for Ordering & Placement
Outline where each sign will go in the floor plan
Get creative with how you would like to display your signs! Some common options include:
Foam board displayed on an Easel. Consider ordering from a local print store or use an online service such as Vistaprint.
Framed cardstock. I love framing tabletop signage in a beautiful gold frame with a matte.
Linen hanging signs with vinyl or embroidered wording.
Bar menu displayed on vintage platters
Mirrors with vinyl
Painted wooden stands
The options are endless! Check out some of my favorite ideas here!
A Thoughtful Finishing Touch
Wedding signage is often one of the final design details, but it has a big impact on how guests experience your day. When planned with intention, signage quietly supports the flow of your wedding while enhancing the overall look and feel.
