Creating your registry should be fun! I outlined some suggestions below, but the most important thing to remember is to enjoy the process! I love the idea of making it into a fun date night so that it’s something you can do together!
POPULAR REGISTRY PLATFORMS
Crate & Barrel
Benefits: 15% completion discount for 6 months, in store experiences
Limitations: Limited to items that are sold at CB2 and Crate & Barrel
Great for: Dishware, bedding, servingware, & home items
Target
Benefits: 15% completion discount, group gifting available, in store experience
Limitations: No cash fund, smaller selection than Amazon
Great for: Target lovers! Target has several great exclusive lines including Figment, Hearth & Hand, and Embark
Amazon
Benefits: You can add almost anything you would like, most people are familiar with the platform, 20% completion discount, free shipping
Limitations: No cash fund, no group gifting
Great for: Large range in products
Third Party - With Joy, The Knot, Honeyfund, etc.
Benefits: You can add links from almost any website, offers a competition discount, integrates well with wedding website, offers cash fund
Limitations: Typically requires a fee for cash gifts, no in store experiences, more challenging return process
Great for: Prioritizing a cash fund, have specific wishlist items that are not available in other registries
YOUR REGISTRY - BY THE NUMBERS
How many items should I add?
You should typically add 2x your expected guest count. If you are expecting 100 guests, then add 200 items!
How much should the items cost?
The key to a good registry is having a good distribution of items in various pricepoints. A popular breakdown is:
Under $50: 10% of your items
$50 - $100: 50% of your items
$100 - $200: 30% of your items
Above $200: 10% of your items
You can then keep an eye on your registry and if you notice a certain pricepoint is running low on items, you can add more!
